Gastric volvulus is a rare disease and defined as an abnormal rotation of the stomach. About 300 cases of gastric volvulus have been reported since Berti firs recognized this condition in 1886. Berg first carried out a successful operation on a
patient
with this condition in 1896, and Rosselet diagnosed the condition radiologically in 1920.
The clinical symptoms depened on the extent or degree of rotation and obstruction.
In the acute gastric volvulus, the triad of Borchardt is diagnostic based on the inability to vomit, severe epigastric distension and failure to pass a nasogastric tube and this and this condition required emergency surgery and has high mortality
of a
about 30 percent, so early diagnosis is imprortant.
The chronic type is often intermittent, reversible, and at times, may be approached medically. However, if a concomitant lesion is found, surgery is necessary.
We recently experienced a case of chronic gastric volvulus associated with eventration of the diaphragm and well treated by subtotal gastrectomy and plication of the diaphragm
